The Greely Reception at Newburyport.
NEWBURYPORT, MASS., August 8. - The reception of
Lieut. Greely next Thursday includes a parade of the Knights Templar, militia,
several posts of the grand Army, civic societies, fire department and school
children, which will be reviewed by Lieut. Greely. There will be a band
concert in the afternoon, an illumination, flambeau parade and fireworks
in the evening.
The public buildings have been decorated and four triumphany
arches erected. Among those invited are Governor Robinson and staff, Secretaries
Chandler and Lincoln, Commanders Schley and Coffin, Lieut. Emory and Greely's
surviving comrades. A committee of ladies and gentlemen will meet this
afternoon to take steps toward presenting Lieut. Greely with a suitable
testimonial.
