Dead Beluga Whale

Near Point Barrow, Alaska

This beluga whale was found dead on the beach near Point Barrow Alaska. There were no visible injuries and no evidence of a cause of death. The photograph was taken on October 14, 2004 and by that time the whale had been there for about a week. The body was frozen and not yet found by polar bears.
